UM best ranked among Uruguayan universities in QSWUR 2022
The University of Montevideo ranked 469 in the QS World University Rankings in its 2022 edition, recently published by the international rating agency on June 8, 2021 on its website.
The ranking issued by Quacquarelli Symonds evaluates the best universities in the world with more than 5,500 universities in the world participating in this edition. The University of Montevideo was among the most prominent Uruguayan universities, gaining position from the previous edition.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology ranks first; the University of Oxford second, and in third place are Stanford University and the University of Cambridge.
The University of Montevideo has academic cooperation agreements with universities ranked in the first twenty positions, such as the University College of London (UCL), Nanyang Technological University of Singapore (NTU), and the University of Hong Kong.
Among the Latin American universities in this general ranking, the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) was in the first position, followed by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and the University of Sao Paulo (USP). UM was ranked eighteenth among Latin American institutions. Universities are evaluated according to the following six metrics: Academic Reputation (40%), Employer Reputation (10%), Faculty/Student Ratio (20%), Citations per faculty (20%), International Faculty Ratio and International Student Ratio (5% each).
